we often create roadmaps for our lives and force ourselves to follow them. We push ourselves to do things we don't want to do because it's "the right thing to do." And in reality, life is a mystery, and because we have no idea what we are doing here, we create strong false beliefs. Nobody received any manual on the day they arrived on Earth, and many people pretend to know precisely what they are doing, but nobody really knows. there is not just one right script, and we do not need to insist on a story that we create for our own life if you have the feeling that the ending will not be so happy. You can always rewrite, reinvent yourself, change your mind, take a different route than you had imagined.

( p.s. I'm writing this crossing a bridge in France, going to the Italian Coastline and trying to decide where to stop the car)

What a coincidence, my website's named "outofthemap" (outofthemap.website/).
I feel myself resonate with your post very much. The motto that I live up to is "Go out of this map and trust the chaos." With the similar idea, we tend to have a "map" and designed "route" either it's from ourselves or other else to a fixated destination that we might never thought about if it is what we really want or need to go.

I write my own destiny. You have high ideals that can be achieved when you believe in yourself. It is better to take the wheel to your own life than let situation or other people take control.
